"With my work I try to help bridge the space between where we are now and where we would like to be."

Mountains & Oceans (2138) Uninterested in reworking extant imagery, Haussmann endeavors to explore a new realm as he paints, creating his own brand of abstraction to relate the experience. Of his Mountains and Oceans series, the artist remarks: "I am not so much interested in what we see but in what we don't see. I am curious what is beyond the mountain or underneath the sea or in the space in between."

Haussmann's paintings function not as representations of the physical world, but as visual journeys into its unseen essence. Abstract, organic fields of color challenge viewer perception as enigmatic layers turn in on themselves, blurring lines between positive and negative space. Canvases are bold yet subtle, quiet yet palpable.

Ultimately, Haussmann strives to share his experience as artist while also offering a new experience for the viewer. He explains: "I am interested in beginnings, how we perceive realities, how we process and respond to information and how we create new experiences. My paintings are vehicles to transport my thoughts and stimulate response and interaction. Painting is a tool to learn more about ourselves and the world we are part of."
